I just installed asus probe on my computer to monitor temps. because i had a fan go out. When I play games I get an alarm for motherboard temp. My temp. it 55 c when i play cod 2. Should I be concerned about this or is this a normal temp. I have checked all fans and air flow and i don't see any problems.

I have an asus M3A78-T motherboard. I read that they do run hot but what is to hot?

I'm not sure what to advise you what to do about your specific motherboard, but I've got my mobo temp at 84 degrees F (29 C). This is how I configure my mobo:

Run computer with my side panel off at all times. (Some people have a fan blowing on the side of their open computer case).

Install PCI fan seen here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835888112

Replaced all aluminum heatsinks with copper heatsinks. (Northbridge & Southbridge).
Install video ram heatsinks.
Install copper Zalman fan on video card.
Install memory with heatsinks.
Place heatsinks on largest chips on the mobo itself.

If a fan alarm is going off, it most likely means your computer is telling you your mobo is running too hot. You might want to consider buying a new motherboard.

You...could...get...another...fan. PDT_Armataz_01_18

You could pop the heatsink off and make sure it has some good thermal grease under it, though Asus seems to be doing better with that nowadays. I would just get another fan especially since replacing that NB might be tricky since it doesn't look like standard hole locations.

heres some cases if you can afford to get one with good air flow. the first ones the one i use. it will run more fans the you'll ever need(i run 6)and it will support the largest video cards out there. and the best thing is you dont even need tools to work on it.

here some other ones that have great cooling

this will be my next case

oh,a real cheap fix for your mobo would be this

I just put in a Fox-1 (for PCI Slot) and another fan in on the side panel. My temps dropped 8 c.

Then I installed a program to control my graphics fan and bumped it from the 40 (default) to 50 and it dropped another 2 or 4 degrees. Now i'm running idle at 40 to 42 degrees.

you can let that program run while you game.when your done gaming take a look at it,and it will say how hot everything got. you might want to look at your cpu temps under load to see how high they get.

so has your nb temps been pretty good now? you might even want to think about redoing the thearmal paste under your heatsinks. try mx2 or artic silver. if you use the artic silver remember that it is very conductive.
