The CoD2 Server went down tonight at ~10:15pm EST at the end of a very hectic Toujane map, and ...... well, the server is already back up.

But, I'm wondering if there's anyway to re-start the server without having to bother Quick, Mess, or Commando.

Woo and I both tried our "hacking" skills out, to no avail.

In my case I input the rcon password via the /rcon_password console command, and some other permutations thereof, and re-joined the stalled server. No luck. I also tried inputing /rcon commands like "End Map," "re-start," etc, then joining the server.

Is there some rcon scripting that does a "re-start" or "End Map," and could be shared with the appropriate people?

Or would it require a Telnet or HyperTerminal session with the appropriate commands? (which I used to do for 2 servers back in the 2000-2001).

No worries if it's all too much hassle --- I understand the sensitivity ,,, and after all, the server was back up after about 10-15 minutes.

Ever Curious, F

P.S. I Googled rcon commands months ago but never found a site that explains commands and other workings --- just general summaries of what rcon does, w/o any specifics.

P.S.S. Is there specific language (or mouse-clicks) which allows you to load the non-stock maps? All I'm able to do is select the stock maps listed after you click on the "Maps" menu item.

me and a friend of mine were messing around and found how to restart windows computers via other computers. you could try that with the server by using the ip for server to connect your comp to its network. but i dont think it'll work, just throwing an idea out there. You can probably find the coding with google.

Sry for the alte reply and wish i could help more,
